Ch. LaLande d'Auvion, Medoc. A deep ruby color that was almost opaque. Reticent nose. Cassis, black fruits, and a spicy component that was very nice. Good entry, a solid center and nice finish. Lots of tannins that needs at least 7-10 to resolve. A sleeper that has lots of upside. 88/90. 13 by the box.
Ch. Champ de Durand, St Emilion. Brite clear ruby, with beautiful aromatics. Floral, red fruits, vanilla, and cinnamon come thru on the palate. Silky entry, solid center, and a marvelopus 4 lapper finish. Another killer bottling from the 2000 vintage. Seductive soft tannins will carry this hummer for at least 6-8. 91/91. 14 by the box. Holy smokes -- those are terrific values! Too bad they are nowhere to be found on wine-searcher.

They were in my futures order. Just checked and looks like Hi-Time sold all of their stock of both wines. WW

opened another of the Champ de Durand for lunch yesterday. Complete killer nose that has intensified over thwe last few. The center has firmed up and the fruits jump from the front to the back of your mouth. What a terrific wine for the money. Kick this lil' darlin' up to a 92. WW
