This was mentioned in the 31 May 2002 edition of WS as a good buy at $26, the price paid at Costco today. Anyone tried this one yet?

Opened last night to serve with brisket and veggies. Yech! A popsicle! A red currant mouthwash! Couldn't find the backbone! Have no idea why WS would give it an 88. Catch me in a generous mood and I might give it an 82, but nothing higher. Pass it by, unless you like popsicles.

VacuVin'd a portion overnight and placed in the fridge, and sure enough, the upfront fruit receded enough for tannins to emerge, even though timidly. But I don't want to have to VacuVin a wine for 24 hours before enjoying it, even if that can somehow approximate time in the cellar. This still isn't my idea of an 88, but maybe now, the next day, it's an 85. I'll spend my next $26 on another Pine Ridge, or maybe a Ch. Les Fiefs de Lagrange plus something. Lots of alternatives. Competition is a wonderful thing!

W&S rated the '99 Fiefs at 89 and the daddy Lagrange at 90. For a $10 difference in price, would opt for the Fiefs.
