Opened a bottle to try this with a friend. garnet in color but not particularly deep for the vintage. Nice elegant nose, rather tight at the moment. On the palate, crisp red but ripe fruit, tannic, good structure but not a serious structure. Rather feminine in detail. Finish was shorter than expected but the wine hinted at something a bit more substantial behind this veil, though it will never be a monster.

That's disappointing news. Lynch Bages has always been one of my favs. The '03 was rich, dark and lush. Certain to develop well.

Think it's much too soon to write off such a dependable producer as "ol Lunch Bags. The '05 vintage is touted as sterling in Bdx, so would reserve judgment for several years.

PW, I'm not sure I'm ready to write this off either but as you noted, L-B has been pretty consistently very good for some time (perhaps not great but very good). As such, perhaps I expected more from this in such a great vintage. It is not a bad wine, its just not as good as I would have hope that it would have been given the 05's that I've tasted. It will develop well but it appears to be starting behind the others in terms of potential. Picked mine up from KC's store and at the first release price, it was not a bad deal.

Patience there Eng. Them classified dudies need time to spread their horns. Never had a Lynchie frum enny decent vintage that had 10+ on it that wasn't good drinking. WW
