1970 Chateau Latour

I'm starting to get to some of the notes I made last week. What a treat!

This is a GREAT wine. For me, the intoxicating nose, mature now, but still showing fruit and secondary notes in a very powerful but elegant way. The wine is still dark but evidently older, first impression are of teh flavors that are still there but it is behind a veil. You need to look for them, they are so balanced, cedar, tobacco, cassis, earthiness, berries and slight herbs, all playing together so well. Lovely mid + density still and good long lingering finish. this wine was absolutely regal in its status. Some might argue over the hill but for me who does not have this every other night, it was a regal presentation.

One of the best from the 70 vintage. Don't turn down a chance to drink the 71. This was a super wine from a really poor vintage. Bought out Argonaut in Denvers stock at the major price of 16.99 per as all of the 71s' were painted with the same brush. WW

had a '70 Beycheville last year/maybe 2010 that was done, with only traces of the wine it once was remaining.

After this post I opened my last 71 Latour and the sucker made me look like I had cribbed on me test. Strong aromatics, killer mouthfeel, and a kick-patootie 4&3/4 lapper finish. I now am covered in buyers remorse. WW

BTW, I lost out on an auction for 2 magnums of 1974 Heitz martha's. I went deep. Someone went deeper.....
