ANother clean but quite boring wine from my search for a fun summer white. I await a winner in this dept! Not worthy of the WS 90 rating in any way.

Not going to be much help, but the best I've had from Argyle have been their sparklers. In fact, had their 96 Brut from mag a few months ago, and it was wonderful.

GAD, do you like Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling wines? If Chardonnay is boring you maybe you need to try a New Zealand or Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc (preferably a 2002 Sancerre if you can find one) or a Riesling from Germany, Alsace or Austria. I like the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand among others. Or you might try the Penny's Hill Chardonnay from Down Under (nice style between the unoaked Trevor Jones Virgin Chardonnay and the quite oaky California chards.)

I really don't mind a bit of oak as long as it isn't hiding huge imperfections in the wine. Colubia Crest Grand Estates is a good example of a decent quaffer for my palet.

Sounds like you would enjoy the Penny's Hill Chard then. It has some oak influence but not dominated by it.

Will keep an eye out for that one.
