Personally, would prefer a Rioja or Garnacha. For the former, the '01 Gran Familia Reserva is 100% Tempranillo and drinking nicely at about $14.50 (Costco). For the latter, the '06 Ateca/Zabrin Calatayud Garnacha de Fuego Old Vines is awfully hard to beat at all of about $7.50.
