I've been sipping on this over the past couple of days, and it's the first chardonnay-based wine I've ever tasted that I've really, really enjoyed.

An almost clear wine with just a hint of straw yellow. The lively grapefruit and lime on the nose follow through with citrus and mineral flavors on the palate. The finish lingers with bright flavors of grapefruit, pebbles, and banana pepper. Paired nicely with chicken caesar salad. Alc. 13% $15.

Welcome to the ABOC club. Love chard, hate oak in it!

It seems that I have very little taste for oak when it comes to whites. This chard (versus the highly perfumed but wooden kinds) is an example of what I like, and so are the unoaked Sauvignon Blancs, Sancerres, etc. Even a touch of oak can be too much! My oak tolerance is a bit different with reds, though still I prefer them balanced.

I'm always receptive to easy-to-find and inexpensive (>$20 if possible) recs for unoaked chards. This one was marvellous.
