Two white Burgundies at Enoteca Vin

I ordered the smallest pour, 1.5 oz., to compare the two. Luckily, I prefered the less expensive of the two and I think I ordered some of it earlier from Carolina Wine Company.

2001 B. Ente Puligny-Montrachet "Champs Gains", 1er Cru 1.5 oz. pour for $5.50, 3 oz. pour for $11.00 at restaurant, wine bar
Pale straw color, clear. Over chilled initially and I couldn't get the nose. The taste was of delicious pear juice, refreshing and uplifting. The nose as it developed was of quince and pear. No intrusion from wood although the taste had the subtlest touch of vanillin. Perhaps the most "pear" I've ever encountered in a wine made from grapes.

1997 Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet "Les Referts" 1er Cru 1.5 oz. pour for $6.25, 3 oz. pour for $12.50
Darker straw or light gold color. More mouth presence than the Champs Gains. More texture but not as delightful in flavor to my palate. Somewhat acidic and somewhat more oaky.
