1999 Rosemount Orange Vineyard Chardonnay

Best Chard I've had. Light yellow, almost green tint. Fruity aroma. Big fruity entrance, refreshing acidity and a nice, light buttery finish. Has a medium feel on the palate. This is a well balanced chard. Rosemount does good work.

You did not mention oak. No oak? Oh my goodness..... As soon as the sun rises, I'm off to the wine store on a mission - FIND ROSEMOUNT CHARD!

They've tamed the oak a bit. Here are two others:

1998 Rosemount, Chardonnay, Giants Creek, Hunter Valley, $17. The nose is accented by lime, nectarine and vanilla aromas. You’ll find citrus, apricot and light butterscotch flavors, finishing crisp and clean.

1999 Rosemount, Chardonnay, Show Reserve, Hunter Valley, $18. Citrus and vanilla notes delight the nose. Citrus fruit, roasted nuts, caramel and creamy oak flavors are supported by an acidic backbone.

Both the Aussies and the Kiwis have started to label some of their chards as "No Oak" and "Oak Free."
