I am searching out the least expensive Chards with relatively pronouned butter and oak. So far, the best and cheapest (8-9 dollars) has been Forest Glen.

Anyone ever tried it?
Opinions?

MOST IMPORTANT: Any other suggestions????????

Hi Golem, and welcome to the Wine Board. Forest Glen Chard is what I recommend to people who want a wine that tastes like a tree. Very appropriate name. If you want butter too, you might try La Crema's.

If you like oak in a Chard, try Toasted Head and J. Lohr Riverstone. Both are loaded - and cheap.

Thanks for the advice. I will take any advice you can give. Anyone else with ideas on good 'everyday' buttery chards?

Sorry, but if I hear buttery or oaky, I run the other way!

Bucko did review a Solaris Chardonnay (Monterey County) that might fit your criteria in flavors and price.

Columbia Crest Grand Estates is sort of along those lines. It may help you start a step down program.
