Depending on the conditions of your basement it may still be drinkable, but that's if it was in a dark place that was kept at about 55 *F all this time. If the temps varied with the seasons to any great degree, it may be gone. If you were to purchase a well kept bottle from a retailer that still has it available, you'd pay from about $225 to $300, but you wouldn't get anywhere near that if you wanted to sell it.

Kcwhippet, thank you for your quick response. It was a great wine, when I bought a six bottle case in 1986. Let's hope it's ok

Banjoman,

The only real way to tell if it's still good or not is to locate the closest corkscrew and crack the bottle... give it a taste and let us all know how it turned out.

We'll keep our fingers crossed in the hope that it's still as marvelous as you remember.

So many wines... so little time!

Cheers

Hi Banjoman. Hate to be nit-picky but you've got one or the other date mixed up as you couldn't have purchased an 86 Opus in 86 as it wasn't released till 88. WW

winoweenie,
That was a great thought. The date on the wooden, six bottle case was 1986. I must have purchased it later.By the way, the cost of the case was $ 365.00
Thanks!
Banjoman

Capocheny,
I am going to take your advice, but I should wait for some "occasion"
