Don't tell me there's taint in this wine. Lovely brite ruby, with a bale of red fruits coming thru with a hint of bakers cocoa and all come thru on the taste along with some sweet cinnamon. The Spec has made such a fuss about the TCA found in the BV cellars that this and the other 2-grand bottlings from this venerable producer have hit the matket discounted.Solid entry, a nice medium mid-palate, with a super 4-lapper finish. If you find this bottling discounted, buy by the barrel. Anything under 30 bucks is stealing this wine IMHO. 91/96. 28 by the box. 13.6% alc. WW

No doubt Tapestry and GDLT bottlings have been discounted as a result of the TCA findings even though it's obvious not all of the bottles have TCA taint.

Problem is, some do and when buying the stuff you're pretty much playing Russian Roulette unless you buy from a reputable dealer who will replace corked bottles AND you drink it soon enough that is reasonable for return.

That said, I've had both the 99 and 2000 Tapestry (neither were corked) and wasn't impressed with either. Thin, light, slightly green and devoid of much fruit I was severely disappointed in my 99s. I still have 5 bottles and just give them away as gifts to folks who are especially wine savvy. Ever since 97, my experience with BV hasn't been great. Just my opinion.

Hey Rick, you can edit your posts. You don't have to make a new post to tell us you had a typo. See the little paper and pencil? That's the edit function.

To WW's post - I think they may have remedied the situation by the 2000 vintage - either by actually fixing the problem or by making the wine elsewhere on the property.

KC,
thanks for the edit info. I was looking for the word "edit" but didn't think to point my mouse at the pencil/eraser icon (duh).

My note:

2000 Beaulieu, Red Wine, Tapestry Reserve, Napa Valley, California, $40, 22,000 cases. Sporting aromas of sweet black fruit, cedar, black olive and anise, this full-bodied wine has substantial but rounded tannins and nice balance. Blackberries, plums and generous barrel notes announce themselves on the palate, finishing long and lush; 90/90.

The reason I made the higher score for value was the discounted 28 per bottle price. Other-wise your and my notes are rite on. EGADS!!!! I must be losing my taste-buds faster than my brain-cells. WW

I'm not your friend, but I'd be happy to pay just the shipping and take these off your hands . The 99 Tapestry is my wife's favorite wine. Oh, and we're not wine savvy, so you can do so in good conscience!
