One of the numerous great lady winemakers, Cathy makes one of the premier bottles of juice,IMHO, on the planet. This 96 is no exception. A brilliamt clear ruby. The visuals aren't nearly as pretty as the nose....violets, carnations, bakers cocoa, and tons of red fruits come at you. Sleek entry with all of the above on the tongue, a nice middle palate and a great 4&1/2 lapper finish. No discernable tannins or heat in this 12.8% alc stunner. Should hold another 8-10 with-out a whimper. A real star in this spotty vintage. 93/90. 40 by the box. WW

I too am a big fan of Cathy's. Which do you prefer WW, Long Meadow Ranch or Corison?

The scale tips towards the Corison. Long Meadow's still a newcomer and frankly I wasn't that impressed with their 97. Haven't tried it lately but my initial score for the juice was only 88 and the Corison from the same vintage was a solid 93. Cathy has access to lots of great vineyards and can put her mark on the final blend. I like the 99 LMR so maybe it'll show some muscle down the road. Like all Napa juicers, they decided their initial bottling should sell with the same price tag as some of the proven producers.WW

Opened another for lunch today. Has fleshed out. Seems far deeper in the fruit area. Loads of knock-out flavors and rapidly approaching the 5-lapper finish. Kick this baby up to a solid 94/95. WW
