Hello!
Iam organising a dinner dinner for my friends. It is a polish dinner.
My first d hote is bettroot soup, then mashy potatoes cakes, then herring in sour cream then the main course is breaded chops ,potatoes and pickled gourgings, then i am going to serve apple cake. I would like to serve first Sauvignon Blanc with mushy potatoes cakes,Chardonnay with herring , with breaded chops i want to serve a red wine mayby Masi Valopicella . I would like to follow the rule light wine then medium amd full -bodied.Is those wines are good recommendations for that foods? This is a traditional polish menu

Hello Ania, and welcome to the Wine Board. Do not have a lot of experiance of matching wine with potatoes, mashy or otherwise, but think you should flip flop your whites. Go with a Macon Village with the mashies, and a Pouilly Fume or Bordeaux Blanc with the fish. This will keep your body "rule" in order. On the other hand, rules are made to be broken. The acid in the sauvignon blanc will do a better job with the herring dish with sour cream than a chardonnay which is low in acid.
The Masi would be fine with the breaded chops.
