I'm a novice. Can anyone recommend a consistent red wine for beef, chicken, or just a glass in the evening without food?
I prefer to purchase domestic wines.
Besides, I've been burned by too many reds from abroad that were simply overrated. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Wine Board route32. Forest Glen puts out a consistant line of domestic reds for $9.99 a pop. Can't say the same for their whites unless you like the flavor of toothpicks.

Route 32 welcome to the board. My choice for consistantly reliable drinkable reds are under 10 bucks Gallo Calif, Hess Select, Woodbridge Calif, Vichon Cab Vin de Pays,B.V. Beau Tour, and in the 12 to 20 buck catagory Geyser Peak Sonoma, Hess Collection, B.V. Rutherford, Mondavi Napa,Pine Ridge Rutherford. If these aren`t enough post me. Winoweenie
