Beautiful stuff. Much better than the 97 I opened a few weeks back. I'm thinking that some of these blends are not set up for long term like I once thought. I can't imagine this getting any better.

I'm surprised by the post on the 97 as I have found it to be sound and tasty.Had the last bottle of the 94 last year and was still alive and well. Insignia is a blend and ages it's patootie off as does the Profile and many others. IMHO I think you may have had a comprimised bottle. Will open a 97 this week-end and report. WW

I think the Weener's eyes are going now. Must be an age thing. GAD's talking about the Justin Isoceles, not the Phelps Insignia.

Seems KC's getting the " Glance over the reply and hit the keyboard fast " syndrome. I was fully aware the wine in question was the Iso....I just expanded on the observation made that blends mite not age as well as thot. WW

I thought foodie was typing that I should buy wine by the box from now on. Now I'm really confused... Or was it Hotwine...

Had the 97 Iso for lunch today and assert my earlier observation that your bottle must have had some BAD mistreatment. This wine exhibits a nose packed with floral notes, luscious plummy-cherry aromas and terrific mineral-spicy underlays. The nose all comes over on the palate along with some jammy-vanilla undertones. It has a velvety entry, solid center and a long 4&1/2-lapper finish. After 2&1/2 hours still was evolviong with the soft tannins holding. Near the top of its' game but nowhere in the region of disintegrating. A solid 95/93. 43 by the box. 13.9%alc. WW

What a bummer. I had the bottle since release at 55 so it wasn't storage. I guess it was just a bad bottle.
