Hogue late harvest riesling

Hi I just purchased the 2000 Hogue late harvest white riesling, after the recomendation of some friends. They stated it was very sweet for them and they liked it as a desert wine. Is this a good suggestion? or any ideas of foods to be served with this wine? thanks in advance.

It is a dessert wine. Serve it with fruit and other none chocolate desserts. For chocolate, serve a red dessert wine such as a late harvest zinfandel or Port.

I don't know the taste of that specific wine, but it should be honey-like and if it is, you can pour a little over ice cream.

late harvest riesling is a dessert class wines. For certain success match it with a simple pear or apricot tart. The wine should be served cool, but not cold, and the tart served warm. Tell us how it turned out.

I have a few cases of this (different years) a perrenial best buy IMHO. Less sweet than many other late harvest wines. I usually just serve it with fresh sliced peaches, nectarines or apricots (I add a little sugar to the fruit), sugar cookies (biscuits) and brie.

I like it also with creme' brulee. But then I like everything with creme' brulee.

Well we tried this wine last night and loved it. I've never tasted something so sweet and smooth as this wine. We served it with a pear tart, which was also very good, but wow, what a wine, and the two go very well together, this has definately been my favorite out of the wines we've tried so far. I'll have to look for another bottle, and being originally from Washington State, it makes me alittle extra fond of a wine from the homefront =) Thanks.

You can buy the Hogue Late Harvest Riesling for a reasonable $7 at Cost Plus World Market. They are in 19 states and are on the web at http://www.costplus.com. The comment about the relative sweetness of this wine is right on! Dessert wine, for sure, but noticed that a couple of folks, did not need the tarts or the ice cream to make for smiles after a recent dinner. Damn, it's also so cheap!

The Boston area is one of the best markets in the country for finding virtually anything. So, you should have no trouble finding more Hogue. Another very nice Washington sweetie is the Covey Run LH Chenin Blanc. Which shops do you frequent in Boston?
