Welcome to the board. What are you serving? Corned beef and cabbage? Lamb? Salmon? If you list the dishes being served you may get some replies as to appropriate wines.

I am having Corned Beef and Cabbage with red potatoes and carrots. Potato Soup to start and a Trifle for dessert. Thank you for your help

If you are not going to have an Irish Brew or an American version thereof, recommend an inexpensive, yet heavy flavored wine to cope with all those flavors. I would recommend HRM Rex-Goliath, Free Range, Central Coast, Pinot Noir. The 2002 is on the market for well under $10. I'm not trying to get to buy some plonk; I like this wine very much.

Your meal is screaming for a nice glass of Guinness! Guinness! and more Guinness! but if you must have wine put me on the side of Pinot Noir also.

You're in upstate NY. Get a Finger Lakes Riesling; it will do well with the dish.

But beer is best!

Had a corned beef and cabbage dinner with potatoes Sunday after the last frostbite race of the year. Had a Loring PN, a Willakenzie PN and a Jadot CdP with it and they went great. Everyone commented that they were all good choices.

It might be nice to finish the evening off with Irish coffee (with Bailey's Irish Cream). A sweet Riesling (late harvest from America or Auslese from Germany) might be nice with the trifle. My Irish friend, Marie Walsh, served me a homemade trifle when I visited her and her German husband near Frankfurt one time. (It was very good)
