This small Argentinian project of Chilean giant Montes makes two excellent wines, both from Mendoza

2003 Kaiken Ultra Cabernet Sauvignon-
Rich and spicy, this cab is a brawny hodge-podge of blackberry, dark chocolate, coffee cinnamon, and black cherries. A very long finish, but a bit tannic still. I'll try it again in a year. Really good and will get better. A bit of a wild monster for just $18.99. I was surprised, since the winemaker's notes call this more elegant and restrained than their Chilean counterpart. I'd be scared to try that! (3000 cases produced, but the Montes ownership means good distribution, I bet.)

ALSO

2003 Kaiken Ultra Malbec
A bit more restrained than the Cab, this wine does the wonderful Malbec trick of being soft as a baby's butt, but still sizeable, deep and dark. What I wish merlot was... Dark berries, espresso and nutmeg are the main features of this incredibly warm and elegant wine. Probably my favorite Malbec at this moment, this one is drinking well for me.
5000 cases produced, also $18.99

If you see either of these, I really recommend you give them a try!
