Very dark and opaque in the glass, nose of cedar and black currant; black berry and red fruits on the palate, but the black currant seems to be left out of the flavor profile so the CS character is poorly defined. Moderate finish, but left wondering where the CS went. About $16 and 13.5% alc/vol. Better cabs available for the price. With beef stew and leafy spinach salad, finished later with chocolate pudding.

Had another last night with potroast. Tannic monster; otherwise, previous TN applies. Won't buy again.

Hotsie IMHO the flavor profile is more the result of the vintage than the producer. I've found several 03s' with the same problem. WW

Franciscan usually does use too much new oak for my taste.
