1998 Merryvale Beckstoffer and Profile

Beckstoffer...A deep almost purple wine that has about as deep a flavor profile as I've found in any 98. Black plums, blackberry, brambly nose and some exotic spice that I thot was all-spice and all came across on the entry. A wine for the cellar. Profile...Deep ruby with a far more accessible nose than the B. Lovely brite cherries, a scoch of cranberry, some vanilla, and cassis with an entry that wassilky, a smooth center, and a long finish. These have to be in the top group of 98s', but I passed because of the price. Penny-Pinching-Wiener. WW
