Set this up last week as an extra when some friends were over and decided to crack the cork last nite when I got in. Lovely brite medium ruby. Expansive nose of cherries, plums, vanilla nad spice. This is one of the better 98s and will mature in another 2-4. Smooth entry, nice center, and almost a 4-lapper finish. 90/88. 60 by the box. 13.5% alc. WW

Had this as I watched the talented Josh fix the crimps in me puter and he said "Wait till I tell Dad(BRW) about this sucker. Has really kicked up its' intensity on the nose, p[alate and finish. Hits the top 10 in the 98 vinbtage rel;eaases. Take to 90/91. WW

I'm glad I still have a bunch left - of both.

It's great to have WW back with his tasting notes (especially since he's been trying some Pinot Noir). IK was not gone long enough to be truly missed but I'm glad his computer is functioning again.

At our regular Thursday lunch BRW and I had this and the 94 Judds' Hill Napa today. Tasting notes on both are on the thread and there's no real difference in scoring. Both are killer examples of their respective vineyards and the vintages. Hard to remember that Joe Heitx, one of me bad-pattotie buddies, isn't around to berate me about my taste-buds. His children are carring on the banner in spades. Too bad so many wine-lovers never had the mind-altering experience of tasting the 1968,69,70 and 74 Heitz Marthas' Vineyard bottlings. WW

Opened another bottle last nite and was the perfect bottling after so many nites of Pinots. Nothing much to add. The nose keeps on keepin'-on but not enough to change scoring. WW
