Carole and I are having the entire inside of the house painted (talk about a Charlie Foxtrot). The kitchen was off limits, so we ran up to ER Rogers last night for prime rib. I wanted a nice red, perused the wine list and espied the 1996 Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Designation, $35 (so probably $18 retail). Nice bottle of wine and got the Carole Bob seal of approval. Jammy blackberries, the earthy, dusty,
mineral tastes attributed to the Rutherford bench area (no, I don't know where the fruit came from), nice balance, long AT. We drained the bottle. I probably would not have ordered it if a wine friend had not mentioned their Cabs.
