had lunch with the weiner (ww) today.this is always a pleasure but went back to his house and we had imho the 2nd best bottle of wine I have ever tasted.served at 55 degrees was smooth from start to finish but after it started to warm up the fruit kicked in cherry, blackberry with spices.the finish once it warmed went on forever.you could not get rid of the the taste.the finish was on your teeth and inside of your mouth. what a stellar bottle of wine and an enjoyable afternoon.I know that joseph phelps insignia is is a little pricey but with a lot of patience (minimum 8 years storage) It is a must buy.not for sure what the 95 cost but the "01" runs 110. .this is a "10 "on the lap meter.this wine of all I have tasted has the longest finish of any wine that I have had. Thanks for sharing www!

We did have some fun eh BRW? The Insignia has been a staple in my cellar since the killer 1975. Like the 1st growths, Phelps manages to make great wine in even mediocre vintages. WW

Had a Markham 1994 napa in 2002.This was the first time that I had tasted an older wine that had been properly stored and served. It came from WW's cellar. It made a believer out of me.I am amazed at how nice wines with 8 to 10 years proper cellar time develope into dandy juice.patience pays off.

What did you guys eat with your wine? I'm a newbie, but I have already noticed that some wines are great alone (or with food) and others are only good with food.

I opened a bottle of Savingnon Blanc last night and found it intolerably tart, but it occured to me that it would be great with seafood.

Robr we drank the Insignia on its' own. It is great by itself and also makes for a great food wine. WW
