Okay, folks, I need a suggestion.

A wine to go with a creamed soup: roasted sweet potatoes and turnips cooked with garlic, cilantro and the Holy Trinity (onions, bell pepper, and celery). Seasoned with a touch of cumin. Not a sweet soup, and with only a very light touch of milk.

A dryish Riesling do you think?

If it's coming early in your meal, think of a Italian Prosecco or a Spanish Cava. If you want to go with a riesling, condider a lower priced one from Alsace. An expensive one might overpower it.

I agree with Innkeeper, but I would try a German Riesling Trocken.

Incidentally, Auburnwine, in my household, the Holy Trinity of food is garlic, wine and olive oil!!!

Thank you. I had wondered about a aparkling. A Cava is a great idea.

Oh, I'd consider garlic and olive oil the "Dynamic Duo," but that particular Holy Trinity has long been considered the "Holy Trinity of Southern Cooking."
