Hi - I'm looking for a medium-bodied new world chardonnay to go with young garlic soup. Any suggestions?

Hi Ketabear, and welcome to the Wine Board. Look for 2001 Yalumba Unwooded Chardonnay ($10) from Australia. If you can't find this particular one look for other unwooded chards from Oz or Kiwiland. The thought of wood and young garlic together makes my skin crawl.

You've got some of those Chardonnays in Canada--look up the wineries of Ontario (Niagara on the Lake): Inniskillen, Marynissen (sp), Vineland Estates, Pelee Island, and more. Most of the Chardonnays are medium-bodied, clean and crisp.

Where do you get spring garlic. No one around this flea bitten old sea shanty of a town even knows what I'm talking about when I say I want spring garlic.
