The other nite I had 3 drinking glasses of cheap red wine. It was "semi-dry" and very fruity and when opened the first time, was a little foamy.
3 glasses is quite a bit I know but I've had that much before with no hangover. This time I had a dry-mouth, dull headache hangover.
Is there some additive that did this? Or is it just that it was cheap stuff .. (10 bux/gal).

Will, the quality of the wine might have been at least part of the problem. But regardless, three glasses isn't all that much, especially if you say you haven't had problems with that amount in the past. Just make sure you drink plenty of water while you're drinking the wine.

hi will.. i also get dry mouth the next day and during the night when i drink the red stuff but that does not happen if you will drink water during your wine drinking, usually 1 glass of water for 1 glass of wine.. 3 glasses is not alot for 1 night and you should try to search for good cabernet sauvignon wines like WOODBRIDGE, KENDALL JACKSON, BRIDGEWATER MILL and WILD HORSE, which in my opinion are fantastic high qualtiy wines and will most likely will not leave you on a hangover the next day...let me know how everything works out...

One thing tho - if it's cheap wine that gives the hangovers, what is in it that does this?

Is it the process or ingredients?

Probably a combination of the two: cheap wine is likely produced with low-quality grapes; then, to add insult to injury, the wines are manipulated with certain chemistry to make them palatable. Your headaches might be a reaction to a specific chemical or wood chip or mold--who knows?

The point is: you have a better shot at feeling good after 3 glasses of wine if the wine is unadulterated and of high quality.
