I have never really drank wine before so I am new. My doctor has informed me that I should drink 1 glass of wine a night to help lower my cholesterol. I have heard around that red wine is best for health. I have tried Merlot and other wines with Merlot and a mix but have not liked any of them. I do like "blush". Does someone know if red wine really is better for your health and if so what can you recommend that has more sweetness and less "heavy" tasting?

Hi Susan and welcome to the Wine Board. Pinot Noir is a tad better than others healthwise, and tastes good too.

You also might try Lambrusco, an Italian red wine that is made with some sweetness.

Try Port. It's red, has a lot of alcohol (20%), and it's really sweet.
