Are there any decent dealcoholized wines out there? Go ahead and pick on me, ask the question "why bother", but really- because I am pregnant I can't drink wine, sad but true.

The ones I have tried are loaded with sugar (Sutter Home- YUCK!!) Ariel is a bit better, but the varietals are boring- Cab and Chard and WHITE ZIN(yeah right..)

Thanks for whatever you have to give me, but please spare the 'its not wine' comments- I work at winery.

Haven't tasted one I would spend my money on.

Have you passed the first trimester? If so, a glass a day of real wine likely won't hurt. But then, maybe MD Bucko can add to that...

I, too, bow to Bucko's knowledge in that arena.

Bucko replied on another thread that after first trimester one glass a day might be permissible.

Even the NIAAA, one of the most anti-alcohol agencies that I know, admitted that a glass of wine a day is most likely harmless. A fact a lot of people do not know -- alcoholic mothers who consume vast quantities of alcohol during their entire pregnancy only have about a 10% chance of having a Fetal Alcohol Syndrome child. Like everything else dealing with alcohol in America, it is blown out of proportion by various anti-alcohol sects. But I respect anyone who desires to quit during pregnancy. It is a personal choice issue.

I think it is a personal choice.
Alcohol is harmful to unborn children, but like anything, it is the OVERUSAGE of alcohol that is dangerous.
Too much choc candy is harmful also, but we don't hear the news screaming that to pregnant women (I always wondered if that was why my son is ADHD, OCD, ODD, BPII, Social Phobia as that was almost all I ate, I couldn't keep anything else down).

My daughter is due in three weeks (any time between 23rd of Jan and 3rd of Feb). She has refrained from drinking anything, her choice, and can't wait to have the baby to drink a glass of wine.

She has a friend who is pregnant, in her fifth month, and she has a glass of wine about two times a week, so as stated, it is a personal choice.

Drink a glass if you feel it is safe, if you don't, then don't drink at all. No one here is going to upbraid you either way.
Janette
