If you'll notice, the majority of the vineyards being torn up or abandoned are planted with Thompson Seedless. Folks like Gallo and Canandaigua use the Thompson as a very, very cheap filler to add bulk to their lines of jug wines. It's unfortunate, but people have been warning about the glut and what it portends for a few years now. If some people choose to ignore the warnings in hopes things will get better, too bad.
