Introducing Ice Wine In Switzerland

Hello

I am a post-graduate student in an International Business program. For my project this semester I am thinking about entering the Swiss market with Canadian ice-wine.

What is your take on this proposal?

ARe there any trade regulations I should be aware of?

What would be my competition?

ANy information would be extremely helpful and much appreciated.

I'm no expert on the trade regulations but if Switzerland is part of the European Union, trade laws probably favor other EU countries. Your competition might be from Sauternes wines from France and German or Austrian Eisweins. Since Canadian wines have farther to ship, you might be at a disadvantage price wise (although German Eisweins are quite expensive, so maybe you could undercut their prices. I don't know what Canadian ice wines usually cost.)

Rules about sales of alcoholic beverages vary not only from country to country but usually form state or province to the next. Check with the nearest Swiss consulate or the embassay in Ottawa about your possibilities.

Hello All

It is me again. I am wondering if anyone can list the brands and perhaps costs of ice wine produced in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. IF this is not possible can anyone perhaps suggest a way to obtain such information. I am having a diffiult time allocating such information.
