Hi Casnco, and welcome to the Wine Board. You need to investigate from the bottom up. First go to you town or city hall and inquire about local regulations and requirements. Also ask them to recommend which state offices to contact regarding licencing and other requirements. Contact local and state organizations such as chambers of commerce or other retailing organizations to ask about marketing strategies and for information about hidden problems such as unique wholesaling practices or prodcedures. Next hire an accountant to develop a business plan including what size operation and associated costs you will have to plan for and bear. All of the above is predicated on the belief that you have a vast knowledge about wine before even thinking about such a venture.
