Does anyone know if any states passed legislation allowing restaurant customers to tke unfinished bottles of wine home with them?

Saw an article recently that said that New York may become the sixth state to pass such a law. Incredibly Maine is one of the five currently on board.

What are you doing up so early? I'm glad to see some states have the sense to see this can cut down on impaired drivers who did not want to leave a half-full $80 bottle behind. It seems it would also be great for customer/restaurant relations.

We find the law useful when dinning out as a party of three. We frequently get into a second bottle in those situations, and the recorking law comes in handy.

After 10 years in the USN, it's hard for me to sleep later than 6:30 even after being dischrged 35 years ago.
In the great state of FL we have an open container law that can land you in the nearest county jail.

I guess it is illegal in most states but I have been able to persuade restaurants to recork the bottle and let me put it in the trunk of my car. As long as I don't intend to drink any of it while driving it seems like it SHOULD be legal. After all, I've paid for the full bottle. And sometimes I'm traveling back to my hotel room by taxi (as in New York City) so not even behind the wheel.

In reply to Sedhed, one reason my oldest nephew left the Navy after his inital term was that he wanted a job where he didn't have to be up at 5:00 every morning. In his next job after earning his MBA he supervised an assembly line on the 4:00 AM shift! I laughed at that! But after about a year he received a promotion and more regular hours on the job. Now he's consulting for that company part time while managing a mortgage brokering business in San Diego with a partner.

Well I enjoyed my stay with the Navy. Did a lot of traveling did a lot of interesting things when I was in the Beach Jumper Unit. Also took advantage of the old GI Bill to go to college but never enough to learn how to type or spell.
