If fine wine, gourmet food and music with a lively beat are your idea of fun, check out the Rare Blends Festival on Aug. 7th at Richard's Grove near Santa Rosa.
The event is being put on by the Trellis Alliance as a benefit for viticultural research at UC Davis.
Bands include Pele Juju, Mumbo Gumbo and Gator Beat. In addition, more than a dozen wineries are joining in a unique collaboration, where winery twosomes will create one-of-a-kind barrel blends for tasting and auction at the event. Winery pairings include Frog's Leap/Toad Hollow, Firestone/Fisher, Windsor/Elizabeth, BonnyDoon/AuBonClimat, Staglin/Stag's Leap WC, La Famiglia/Coppola, Silverado/Sterling, Cosentino/Galleano, Geyser Peak/Eberle. Many other wineries will also be pouring at the event.
Food from a variety of local restaurants and cooking demonstrations by CIA/Greystone.
Rare Blends: 2pm-6pm, Aug 7th at Richard's Grove at SaraLee's Vineyard in Windsor. Tix are $75 per person. Call UCDavis box office (530)752-1915.
