Anyone heading to Boston Wine Expo this year again? I skipped the event last year cuz my previous experience was that it was like a booze feast. I also think that for $125 for the Grand cru tasting I would have done better to have three friends each buy a $125 bottle and we'd share it....having said all this, I'm back in this year with some additional tickets. I Nicolas Joly is coming and I've gotta taste his stuff!

Wow....what a mess....

Actually it started well enough. I signed up for the Nicolas Joly Biodynamics session. I like his wines but am not convinced of some of the methodology of biodynamics. Still it was an interesting discussion. He is a good speaker who would do well to learn how to use powerpoints.

Thank God for Trade hours......got to taste a few things before it got crazy. The event is bigger this year but a noticeable drop in attendance from the French. A whole section devoted to New York wines and the usual "lifestyle" booths. Second session on wine and food pairings offered from Wine Spectator confused the cr@p out of me......

Then when I headed back out onto the floor....holy college holidays.....it was a drunkfest. You saw all the tables pull the best stuff away from the tables to hide them and serve their cheapest stuff. It was an interesting view.
