Baked stuffed lobster

What wine goes well with baked stuffed lobster? I am going to a dinner party on Friday and don't want to look like a total clod.

Hi Wine Novice (better than idiot), and welcome to the Wine Board. A New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc would be fine. I prefer those from Hawks Bay to those from Marlbourgh, but go with later if you can't find the former. Don't get anything older than 2001, and unless you like to spend money, you don't need to pay more than $15 (and preferably less).

Counterpoint -- I prefer the Marlbourgh myself.

I find Sancerre from the Loire Valley to be a nice match.

Am I to assume that stuffed lobster is always stuffed with the same food (and if so, what is that? I have never had stuffed lobster. I prefer the thing broiled and dripping with that great cholesterol blob of butter.)

Of course, Sauvignon Blanc is a good match with lobster. But if there are no stuffing rules, wouldn't we need to know what the stuffing is before recommending the wine.

In my experiance, lobster is stuffed either with crabmeat or breadcrumbs or a combination thereof. The wine recommendation stays the same with these.

Actually, it was stuffed with crumbs, shrimp and scallops and the Sauvignon Blanc was a terrific choice. Thanks!
