Fee: Each class will offer at least 6-8 quality wines. All of the wines served will be paired with appropriate food samplings. Classes are $75.00 for the first person, “Bring a Friend” and the second person gets a discounted rate of $50.00

THE WINE DYNAMICS SERIES For February 2005
Important White Varietals
Tuesday, February 1: 6:30–8:00 p.m.
Gary Madden, General Manager of Lieb Cellars, will offer a range of distinctive flavors in wine worldwide, demonstrating Pinot Blanc as both a sparkling and a still wine; comparing stainless steel and oak fermented Chardonnays from both hot and cool climates, and exploring the influence of climate on Sauvignon Blanc.

Madden began his career as a computer specialist, but let his hobby as a home winemaker lead him to his current job, where he is totally immersed in all aspects of the noble grape.

Sweets for the Sweet
Tuesday, February 8: 6:30–8:00 p.m.
In anticipation of St. Valentine's Day, Charles Massoud of Paumanok Vineyards will pair delicious themes and variations of wines in a progression from semi-dry to unctuously sweet. Some surprising food matches will show how these wines are not just for dessert, though we will end with the perfect solution for a sweet tooth.

Massoud learned to make wine when he worked in the Middle East for IBM. With his wife, Ursula, and sons, he now owns Paumanok Vineyards, which was voted "Winery of the Year" at the 2004 Wine Classic.

The Soul of a Red Wine
Tuesday, February 15: 6:30–8:00 p.m.
Peggy Lauber of Bedell Cellars and Corey Creek Vineyards will lead a tasting and discussion of the basics of red wine from the world's prominent wine regions. Focusing on Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, different terroirs and winemaking styles and their impact on the finished wine will be explored, along with the interaction of their flavors and appropriate foods.

Lauber was co-founder of Corey Creek Vineyards, located on the North Fork of Long Island. She oversees sales and marketing for Corey Creek Vineyards and Bedell Cellars, which are now both owned by Michael Lynne, Co-CEO and Co-Chairman of New Line Cinema.
