It's with a very heavy heart that I must report that Verne Batchelor, who we know as Winoweenie, has passed. He went peacefully in his sleep this past Monday, June 3, 2019. Verne had great 93 year run. I'm missing my buddy!

I stop in once a month of so to check if anyone is still here... and part of it is because I knew this day would come... Very sad to hear indeed... Sad

Rodney

Verne was a wonderful person. He cared for so many, and we cared for him for so long. I will miss his regular phone calls and supportive voice on this forum. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and many friends.

I haven't checked in here in nearly eight years. I'm sorry.

I came here today looking for news on Verne. I am going to Las Vegas with my wife in the fall, so of course I wanted to take her to Pamplemousse. I'll never forget my dinner there with Verne -- and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride After. I saw this morning that Pamplemousse closed in 2021, a victim of the pandemic.

Verne was one of a kind. What a kind, generous, wonderful guy. At least he'll never have to take another "sabbatical" to rest his liver. And he and CB are drinking well every day.

I'll raise a glass to him Saturday night when I open a '66 Duhart Milon I've been saving for a special occasion.

Damn, this breaks my heart.

I hope everyone's well.

Keith
