drug and alchohol test

I am applying for a job which requires a basic drug and alchohol test for substances in the body, does anyone know how long wine stays in your system? I'm new to drinking wine and so far for the past week ive been drinking a glas or two with dinner and basically I want to know if I'm jeopardising my future job, or does anyone know about this type of testing? a little help please!!!

We do drug testing all the time but I've never heard of employment alcohol testing. Can you tell us what type of job you're applying for?

I am just applying for a normal job nothing out of the ordinary. It's for a desktop publisher position at copymax.

res, the tests we do will detect opiates and cocaine based drug usage 1 month+ and then random screening during employment. Alcohol tests are not done unless there is an allegation of drinking on the job and that is accomplished with a breathalyzer. I wouldn't sweat the alcohol test...just don't go to an interview after drinking or taking alcohol based medications. BTW, for every 1 oz. of 80proof liquor or 1 12 oz. beer or 4 oz. glass of wine, your blood alcohol level rises 0.02%. So you need 3 drinks in an hour to register "impaired" (.05%) and 5 drinks to register "intoxicated" (.10%)... of course these figures pertain to driving under the influence. For every hour you abstain, your blood alcohol level subsides .02%. These figures vary according to your size and full or empty stomach. Good luck.

Intereseting stats Drew. Sounds a lot like the DWI and DUI laws throughout the land, but unlike you, few lawmakers make reference to the weight, size and food that influences BAC.

My question however is: why a drug test for a desktop publishing job? Going to kill or maim with the mouse! I hate these invasions that Americans are being forced to endure in order to fight (and lose) our little war on drugs.

I think private industry just doesn't want to hire drug addicted workers. Can’t blame 'em.

That’s quite innovative and different alcohol test. Haven’t seen anything like that though I have worked briefly with a DUI attorney Los Angeles for couple of years. Going to share it with my uncle who still works there.
