Wine drinking out of stainless steel cups

Is there any issue with drinking wine out of a stainless steel cup as far as taste? What is the preference of most consumers? I know it would keep it cold longer but would it still be good?

Hi League and welcome to the board. After centuries of trial and error it has been firmly established that a crystal glass is the vessel of choice to use. Frankly, I caint quite wrap the notion of drinking out of a stainless steel cup. Try a nice crystal wine glass, I think you'll like it. WW

Metal transmits heat faster, so wine would warm up faster in metal, I would think, than in glass. Stemware was invented so that wine would stay cooler, since the glass could be held by the stem and no heat would be transmitted from a hand cupping the glass. Personally, I have some "chunky" style wine glasses that I love because they are not fragile and delicate but still have a stem to hold the glass without heating the wine. I think I got them from Pottery Barn years ago... and not one has ever broken.

Metal would also affect the taste, I think, of many wines. But I don't have a scientific explanation for that. Anyone??
