Where do I find the price of large bottles

I have purchased through a silent auction or have won a few double magnum bottles of wine over the past few years. It is easy to find a price on a standard size bottle of wine but where do I find the prices of double magnum bottles?

If you take the time to post the bottles you have on the board I'm sure we cangive you a ' Close enough for horseshoes" Figure. The major reason those prices are hard to find is they normally are bought to store and drink. Welcome to the board, WW

WW is correct. Just let us know. BTW, since you bought at auction, then unless you are very lucky, your price will be a pretty good indication of the value (versus retail value) of the wine.

In general, unless very rare, bottle size is not going to change the value of the wine. So look at the value of the bottle and multiple it by four and maybe give it 10% to 15% more for novelty value. Hard to find Champagne and burgundy will often be the type of wine where the format will significantly increase the value of the wine. Magnums of Champagne are a significant premium on standard bottles. Burgundy is collectible and large formats are even more rare (and I was told different size labels incur different costs too, etc).

I like magnums because I think they are the perfect storage and drinking size. One bottle is often not enough but anything larger than a mag for me needs a lot of people who all want to drink the same thing.
