A friend of my took me to the wine pick up party for this winery. Quite impressed with the wine. The chards were good as were the pinots. This was something different. They said it was an Italian varietal so I was a bit precondition for something tannic and acidic. The wine was very light in color like a Nebbiolo. There was that hint of orange tones. But the nose was positive fresh and on tastes totally different. It was built like a rose and tasted like a rose. Lovely really, perfect sun drenched early November 80 degrees late afternoon..... What the hell am I living in Boston for......

It was ridiculous. I was sitting at the Dry Creek General Store having a bit of lunch enjoying the Sonoma sun. The pickup parties are a much more subdued event than the Napa release parties. We spent three hours trying the 6 wines at AR, sitting on the grass area speaking to a vineyard owner who sells grapes to them. They were heading to a Joseph Swan harvest party after that. Looking up into the trees, kids were all over it like ants, climbing up and down the trunk. There was music in the air and wine in hand, the 80 degree weather ever present overlaid with the knowledge that the next day, I would be back on a plane heading east......
