'10 Rosa dell Olmo Barbaresco
2010 Rosa dell Olmo, Barbaresco DOCG ($9.99 Trader Joe's, Alcohol level 13.5%). Not the best Barbaresco in the world, but well worth the price. It gives a nice ruby red to garnet color to the eye, violets and vanilla to the nose and up front, a pleasant balance with smooth tannin in the middle, and a lingering finish.

We matched it with Gemelli pasta in our red Italian sauce, and cherry tomatoes and cucumber (from our garden) vinaigrette salad. Yum!

Another bottle last night with lamb shanks and penne; a very nice wine, we will get more. Yum!

We now have the 2011. It seems a little bit lighter, but just as tasty or more. We matched it with lamb shanks and linguini. Yum!

Ditto, except they are back to the 2010 which doesn't bother us. The last batch of the lamb shank stew had sunk to the bottom of the bowl in the fridge; so we had plenty of meat! We got four meals out of the last batch.

Opened a fresh bottle of the 2011 last night with Italian sausage and penne in our Italian tomato sauce. Yum!

Will finish it tonight with cabbage rolls our daughter is making for us.

Another tonight with the same Italian dinner. This is just a light and fruity wine that it should not carry the handle "Barbaresco." When you get a bargain at Trader Joe's you should not raise your expectations. We keep buying this one for what it is, and not what it says it is.

In the process of killing another bottle. First half went with Italian sausages and pasta in tomato sauce Wednesday night. Will finish it tonight with loin ends Teriyaki and sweet potato fries.
