Hi everybody,
I love drinking wine, but don't know much about it.

I have some questions about a bottle of "Porto 1968 Messias" that I have.
In 1984, I was a foreign-exchange student to Portugal. My host family gave me a bottle of Porto 1968 Messias (Photos here: "Porto 1968 Messias Photos":https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2248625509178.121257.1654434463&l=23364fe6f7&type=1). The bottle is still unopened with the original black seal, but the back paper label is starting to peel a bit.

Can anyone tell me more about this wine? I have not been able to find much info about it on the internet.
If I opened it now, would it be drinkable?
Is it of any value or could I re-sell it? It has a lot of sentimental value for me; what is the best way to preserve or store it?
Thanks in advance for ANY info!
- Whitney

Hi there wrp and welcome to the board. This is a vintage house I'm not familiar with. But IMHO I think it should be in its' optimum drinking window. Not being one of the big 6 or 7 doubt you could get much for it. Invite a couple of your dearest and closest over, pull the cork, and DRINK that sucker. WW

If you use www.wine-searcher.com you will find that the 68 appears to be currently on sale in the US as well for around $100. But it is not a major port house and the distribution is very minor. So I would agree with Winoweenie, call a couple of close friends and pop it in the near future.
