1999 Jean-Philippe Fichet Meursault Le Tesson, Burgundy

From three parcels, one with 60-year-old vines.
I don't collect much Meursault, generally preferring Puligny-Montrachet or Chassagne-Montrachet but this was a nice one. Imported by The Country Vintner, Oilville, VA.
13% alcohol. Medium to old gold color with transparency.
I received two different impressions of the wine on two consecutive evenings. The first evening the nose suggested acacia blossoms and almond/marzipan along with gentle hints of butterscotch creams. I liked it better the second evening when the fruit seemed purer, the oak in retreat, and a smooth note of lanolin appeared. A fine core of steel and a fair amount of acid remain to give the wine backbone. I could see pairing this with corn souffle or halibut or sole. I had it with a potato, bacon and cheese soup and had a tossed salad after the soup.
