2008 Mendel Malbec, Argentina

Been looking forward to opening an Argentina Malbec for a while. Perhaps it was this anticipating that hurt this wine but...

Deep purple garnet in color, ripe dark fruits, plums, but lacking both structure and complexity. Simple straight forward and decent but that is not enough at this price level (around $30). Many wines at half this price that can perform better. Perhaps I had a bad bottle.
