No such thing -- the alcohol is the main source of carbs. Some wines have residual sugar, another source of carbs.

Boy, if there were no carbohydrates in wine this would certainly be heaven on earth!

Bucko doesn't say so, but wine gives quite a decent jolt of carbohydrates. Your choice is to use wine as the only source of carbohydrates each day, or use it not at all while you are on the diet, which was the reason I got off the diet.

A 3.5 oz glass of dry red wine contains 2.5 grams of carbs; while the same amount of dry white wine contains 3.5 grams of carbs. That can easily be handled on any low carb diet.

One of my nutrition books says a good rule of thumb is 2 grams of carbohydrate per ounce of red or white wine (can vary, as Germans have 9% alcohol, whereas some Zins are 15+%), and 3 grams of carbohydrate per ounce for dessert wines.

My data comes from Pennington & Church's FOOD VALUES, 14th edition. Regardless, as we mentioned under the posting under For The Novice, Driest Wines; my wife (under her doctor's care) lost 100 lbs in 14 months on a low carb diet, along with a handful of ailments, while cosuming a glass or two of dry wine every night.

Morbid obesity definitely contributes to osteoarthritis pains, worsening of diabetes, hypertension, congestive heart failure, etc., etc. Congrats to your wife. Now if she can just lose you......

Innkeeper, I think I found 30 of those lost 100 pounds; want them back?
