Summer Shipping Question

Ground shipping is near lunacy, I'd imagine, in this weather. However, if one (meaning me) was just dying to make an order, is there a safe way to do it in the summer? Or, is it just not recommended at all? The reason I ask is that there is a very special wine (very old) in a newsletter I got in the mail today that would be perfect for a special occasion coming up, and I'd hate to wait until the weather cools off and have the wine unavailable when I try to order it, as almost certainly it is rare.

Hi Dananne. You didn't specify when the event would happen but I'd advise buying and paying for the wine then advising the company when to ship. If its' still in this blast furnace and you have to have the wine, pay thre price and ship Fed-Ex overnite.WW

Fed Ex will ship to GA if the shipper has a license, otherwise it's treated as a felony.

It is an inconvenience, but I always ship to my brother in Illinois (reciprocal state) and then get it from him one way or another [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/smile.gif[/img]

I have the same problem living here in MA. Many people won't ship wine here, so I have to ship to one of my daughters in NH or CA, and then on to me.

Well, with the wife's birthday not until Feb., my brain simply went to sleep and I forgot to pay first and ship later, as suggested by WW. Now, the b'day wine in question, a Faustino 1970 Gran Reserva, is off the shelves at our friend Roberto's shop. Urg!!!

After talking with the knowledgeable and helpful Taylor out there (why are my local wine shops so lacking in quality help???), my options appear limited to the '70 Ducru, the '70 Fonseca, and the '70 Fladgate. Or, I may be able to skip the b'day year thing and get her the '64 Faustino Gran Reserva. Anyone have any input? All are at roughly the same price point. Thanks in advance for your advice.
