I'm going to see if I can get some info here on a particular winery. CG has graciously offered me part (or most) of her allocation from Pax Winery. They make mostly Syrah, but also some Rhone whites (sorry ww). I've heard a lot of good news about them, but I've never tried any of their wines - and I really like Syrah, more so after the trip to WA last year. So, anyone know anything about them and their wine? A little help here.

Not firsthand knowledge kc but their syrah has a good reputation. Owner of Carolina Wine Company considers it one of the better CA syrahs.

Hope I am not too late to help you with this KC, but I have tried quite a few of their Syrahs. I went to the Northern Rhone last year and have been on a Syrah kick for the past 9 months or so.

Anyway, I think their Syrahs are some of the very best that I have had anywhere, including France. If you need my specific opinion on any of the cuvees, just let me know. I have probably tried 5 or 6 of their different bottlings.

I would put them up there with JC Cellars and Novy as my favorite Cali Syrahs.

They look like a winner to me, too. We're going to be visiting them on our trip out in July. Those folks that are going in Sep - Oct may want to push for a visit there.
