they were having a discussion and wondering about a 1933 Simi one of the guys had brought to a tasting. I was very privvy to these wines. When Zelma Long became pres and winemaker for Simi she found a whole stash of 375s of rhw 33s that were originally salesmans samples. Rod Bergland(I'm pretty sure) told me about them and that Zelma was going to dump them. I bought 2 cases each of the Zins and the Cabs and he bought a boatload. Payed a buck a clatter for these hummers and believe it or not the juice was spectacular. I ended up giving a bunch away to buddies and drinking the rest in about a country second. I saw the wine at a wine shop in SF and found out they paid 30 a bottle for it from Rod and were getting 60. Now these suckers are still showing up. Not exactly sure but think it was the early 80s.(Whenever Zelma took over Simi). Now you know the rest of the story. WW

Interesting. You could have made some money off of them but I'm sure you had much more fun drinking them and sharing with friends.
